In our Tilmanstone Salads site we produce first class Salad's products including leafy salad bags, leafy salad bowls, takeaway salad meals, prepared vegetables & side dishes for one of our most prestigious customers in our state-of-the-art factory. About the role. We are recruiting for a dynamic and hands on Production Manager for our Tilmanstone site. The successful candidate will deliver high standards of food safety and quality, ensuring product produced is in line with customer specification, quality manufacturing and food safety standards and that GMP and Health and Safety is owned and embraced throughout the team. You will ensure you and your team are adequately enabled and demonstrate a culture which encourages Continuous Improvement whilst embracing and bringing to life the Bakkavor Values, engaging all colleagues to be and to do their very best. You will plan, organise, and measure labour and material requirements within their area to ensure that both short and long-term agreed targets are met. You'll ensure the workforce is well informed on relevant business news and to encourage effective cross-functional links. You will be expected to lead a shift or multiple areas within Factory Operations, and deputise for the Factory Manager as required, and will require the same knowledge of food manufacturing processes/standards as a Factory Manager to be a credible deputy. Key Responsibilities: Pro-actively managing Health & Safety Leading and driving standards of quality, food safety, hygiene and housekeeping within your area through Good Manufacturing Practice (G.M.P.) Managing performance of your teams Owning the training & development of all levels of team including managers. Managing the NPD process within your area Challenging and introducing new KPIs to drive performance. Planning, organising and measuring labour and material requirements Managing the communication process to ensure that the workforce in their area is well informed on relevant business news Supporting and encouraging the Bakkavr values and a positive culture within your area, whilst fostering good employee relations The recruitment of direct reports and an involvement in all staff recruitment within your area Accountabilities Health & Safety - To pro-actively manage to ensure that a safe working environment exists for all employees in the operation and that as a minimum the operation meets the standards set out in the Group Health & Safety policy. Quality Standards - To lead and drive standards of quality, food safety, hygiene and housekeeping within your area through Good Manufacturing Practice (G.M.P.) to ensure that both Business and customer standards are kept and audit requirements are fully met. NPD Process - manages the NPD process within their area of responsibility to ensure that all trials run successfully and through to product launch Performance Improvement through use of KPIs - Challenges and introduces new KPIs to drive performance. Ensures Team delivers agreed KPIs across the operation Ensuring systems are in place to collect the necessary data to measure performance against the agreed KPIs. Develops and implements PIPs and identifies areas for improvement. What you will need You will ideally have experience working in a food manufacturing environment and will have led teams in a fast paced manufacturing business. You will understand retailer expectations and how we meet them. You will be a great leader capable of inspiring and engaging your team, understanding the pressure of a factory environment.
