We are looking for a highly motivated individual to join our Mortuary team. This post will be based at Whitechapel but on occasion the successful candidate may be required to visit any of the other sites. The post holder will be required to assist in all aspects of Mortuary Services including post mortem provision for adults, perinatal/paediatric cases and care of the deceased.
You will be the dedicated training lead for the trainee APT’s ensuring they reach the standard required to pass the level 3 diploma. Potential applicants should pay particular attention to the Job Description and Person Specification for this post to ensure meeting the respective criteria.
The mortuary services at ESEL comprise of one mortuary facility based at The Royal London Hospital in Whitechapel, Barts Health have 4 other deceased holding units at St Bartholomew’s, Newham, Whipps Cross and Mile End.
The Cellular Pathology and Cancer Diagnostics Division provides diagnostic and screening services for the whole of North East London. Our facilities are close to underground and DLR services. The Mortuary service performs approximately 200 post mortems Per annum and is regional referral centre for perinatal cases. The Mortuary is HTA accredited. Our commitment to supporting continuing professional development is evidenced by an excellent training record.
The NHS East and South East London Pathology Partnership is an arms-length organisation providing pathology services to Barts Health NHS Trust, Homerton University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust and Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Trust. The Pathology Partnership is hosted by Barts Health.
The Pathology Partnership is based on well-established models for pathology networks, with the Royal London Hospital becoming the main hub laboratory for the network and Essential Service Laboratories (ESL) as a minimum at all other Hospital sites.
The 2020/21 total operating costs across the Partnership were c. £126m per annum with a workforce establishment of circa. 822 WTE.
