Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 6 Tissue Viability Specialist Nurse, within the Yeovil District Hospital acute team.
This post is part time (30 hours per week), pattern to be negotiated.
Somerset NHS Foundation Trust is formed from recent mergers of Musgrove Park Hospital, Yeovil District Hospital and Somerset Partnership (Community Trust); this is therefore a great time to join the specialism, as we look to transform the tissue viability provision across the healthcare system within Somerset.
The successful candidate would ideally have experience of elements of the healthcare environments within Somerset and the digital systems used.
Excellent communication and organisational skills are essential to achieving the high standard of evidence-based care expected by the Trust.

Person Specification
Qualifications Essential
* Registered General Nurse
* Evidence of relevant post graduate specialist training - short course at diploma or above level
* Mentoring qualification or equivalent
Desirable
* Teaching qualification
Experience Essential
* Proven experience at a senior staff nurse level- including supporting junior colleagues.
* Experience in use of IT platforms such as- Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint and Teams.
Desirable
* Audit and/ or research.
Additional Criteria Essential
* Proven experience in managing complex wounds.
* Ability to use specialist wound therapies, such as Doppler assessment (including toe pressures), compression therapy, Negative Pressure Wound Therapy and Larval Therapy
* Act as a role model.
* Ability to prioritise own work load and to keep to deadlines with minimal supervision.
* Ability to work under pressure.
* Willingness to use technology to improve standards of care and support our patients.
* Access to transport to travel in connection with the post e.g. to attend meetings or training events across the county.
Desirable
* Knowledge of the national strategies/ agenda relevant to the discipline.
