PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
The HSE Advisor is responsible for providing Health, Safety and Environmental support to Bristow’s UK and European operations as required. The HSE Advisor will be required to demonstrate a thorough understanding and knowledge of regulatory compliance. The HSE Advisor will drive continuous improvement whilst working within a dynamic and focused HSE team.
Key responsibilities:
This role has a wide and varied number of responsibilities, which include but are not limited to:
Environmental:
1. Development of procedures and processes to support ISO 14001 and 45001 certifications.
2. Review of environmental regulation to update procedures as required to ensure continued compliance. Environmental auditing.
3. Monitor Environmental KPI’s and prepare reports.
4. Support environmental projects and campaigns.
5. Attend and support Environmental Committee Meetings.
Risk Assessment:
6. Assist and engage with line Managers and Supervisors to develop Departmental Risk Assessments, COSHH and Ergonomic Risk Assessments through use of MAC, RAPP etc assessment tools, DSE
7. Fire Risk Assessments
Accident Investigation:
8. Investigate industrial injury accidents and incidents.
9. Undertake interviews and discussions as required.
10. Prepare accident investigation reports.
11. Monitor accident records and analyse data for trends.
12. Create lessons learned and communicate out to raise awareness and prevent repeat incidents.
13. Ensure correct documentation is raised and prepare internal and external accident statistics.
14. Report injuries to the HSE under RIDDOR if required.
Audits / Inspections:
15. Carry out routine workplace inspections as well as assisting nominated HSE Champions as required.
16. Carry out UK/Europe base health safety and environmental audits.
17. Support the ISO14001 and 45001 audit programmes.
18. Undertaking Root cause analysis & identifying HSE issues.
19. Evaluating corrective / preventative action / analysis of trends.
20. Manage closure of findings ensuring target dates are met and supporting departmental teams to do so.
Control of contractors:
21. Support departments as required to ensure the safe control of contractors.
22. Contractor HSE inductions.
23. Manage contractor database.
24. Liaise with the facilities team to provide HSE advice.
HSE Issues:
25. Provide advice and assist with implementation of practical solutions for day-to-day HSE issues for all levels of staff in conjunction with the HSE Lead and wider Safety and Compliance Team.
26. Advise on HSE Legislation issues.
27. Conduct HSE inductions for new staff including allocation of mandatory training.
Work Permits:
28. Monitoring of Permit to Work system to ensure effectiveness.
Training:
29. Support & deliver HSE training. Develop training materials for HSE requirements.
Raising Safety & Environmental Regulatory Awareness:
30. Delivery of training.
31. Providing advice.
32. Communication.
Qualifications:
33. NEBOSH qualification or equivalent in OHS/Environment (Essential)
Experience:
34. Experience of ISO14001 and ISO 45001(Desirable)
35. Institute of Environmental Management & Assessment training (IEMA) (Desirable)
36. Membership of IOSH (Desirable)
37. Auditor Experience (Desirable)
Skills:
38. Excellent motivational skills
