Role Responsibilities:
Cognizant seeks to hire a RDK Engineer for our IoT Practice. The IoT Practice provides Product Engineering best practice/standards development, deployment, management, and operational support across the communications, media and technology industry. Provide the RDK platform to power connectivity devices including DOCSIS, xPON, FWA, xDSL, WiFi, Mesh, etc for RDKB Wifi, RDKB Core, RDKB Mesh Device and RDKB Optimization.

Essential Skills:
* Languages: C, C++, Shell Scripting, Python.
* Linux Kernel/Networking: TCP/IP, NetFilters, IPSet, IPV4, IPV6, OVS, bridging, routing, MAP-T, Device driver development, UPNP, RIP, IGMP, IEEE 802.11, GRE Tunneling, DBUS, RBUS, UBUS.
* Device Management: WEBPA, SNMP, TR369 USP, WEBConfig.
* DPI: Device Finger printing, Application Detection, parental control, and safe browsing.
* Firewall and security: IPTables, NFtables, IPSEC/MACSec, DOS, DDOS.
* Gateway WAN Technologies: DOCSIS, MTA, EPON, GPON, DSL.
* Message/Transport Protocols: MQTT, HTTP/S, WEBSOCKET, XMIDT, OVSDB, HTTP(3), gRPC.
* Encoding schema: MSGPack, AVRO, Protobuf, OVS, JSON.
* WiFi/Mesh: Opensync, WiFi EasyMesh, knowledge of WiFi protocols.
* Tools: Build tools (Yocto, make), Splunk, JIRA, GITHUB/Gerrit.
* Hands-on experience on C/C++ programming.
* Strong knowledge of Linux Operating systems.
* Hands-on experience working in Linux environment.
* Strong knowledge of TCP/IP internals and common network protocols such as DHCP, DNS, HTTP.
* Strong problem-solving skills.
* Knowledge of Source version control tools like git, GitHub etc.
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
* Strong understanding of IEEE802.11 protocol.
* Design, develop and testing of Wi-Fi software feature for Wi-Fi gateway/extender product.
* Experience and knowledge on IEEE802.11/Wi-Fi protocols such as WPA, RADIUS, WPS, 802.11n/ac/ax.
* Work with vendors to integrate Wi-Fi chipset solutions.
* Provide technical assistance to other teams to troubleshoot customer Wi-Fi issues.
* Work on development of new Wi-Fi features on RDKB platform.

Qualifications:
* Active participation in the RDK-B community and an understanding of its development processes and culture.
* Familiar with networking protocols, including TCP/IP, UDP, DHCP, DNS, and VLANs and other relevant protocols for networking devices.
* Awareness of security best practices, as network devices need to be secure. This includes understanding encryption, authentication, and network security.
* Understand wireless technologies, including Wi-Fi, and how to configure wireless interfaces in RDK-B.
