To be a member of the Packaging Material Optimisation Leadership Team (LT) and support development and delivery of the Paper Material Optimisation sub-function and network.
To support the Paper Material Optimisation network to ensure Regions and Countries and therefore Packaging achieve the Paper Material Optimisation targets, and that Paper Material Optimisation methods and tools are implemented in a consistent manner across the Regions and Countries.
Working with the internal teams to ensure an efficient and effective solution and continued development of the sub-function.
To support all Regions and Countries with Paper Material Optimisation matters, in order to meet and exceed the needs and requirements of our customers, resulting in the business objectives and service goals being achieved.
About the role
We have an exciting opportunity for a Paper Material Optimisation Specialist to join us and support the development and delivery of the Paper Material Optimisation sub-function and network. You’ll be working to implement various tools and methods consistently across countries and regions, working with a number of stakeholders to ensure achievement of Material Optimisation targets and to help the wider business fulfil its objectives.
You will develop an environment which promotes continuous improvement, empowerment, motivation, participation and team working. This will include activities such as:
1. Mastering planning of project activities and releases of new application versions
2. Testing and challenging the correlation of financial and activity planning in Paper Material Optimisation sub-function projects
3. Securing co-ordination of sub-workstream activity
4. Promoting best practice exchange and documentation
5. Challenging stakeholders around results delivery (non-routine, when its needed)
6. Working within the formal delivery structure (RDLs DDL, Material Optimisation leaders)
We want you to expertly influence your network, whilst also coaching, mentoring and motivating the project teams that you work with on a regular basis. This will include close work with our Paper Quality Centre and other teams throughout DS Smith, developing new approaches to tackle challenges in the industry and ultimately achieving better and better results for your team and the organisation.
About you
1. Ideally educated to degree level (preferably engineering) or equivalent via experience
2. Good technical knowledge of the Corrugated and Paper Industry, and the manufacturing process
3. Ability to build relationships and work collaboratively across various countries and cultures
4. Good level of experience in project management
5. Good communication skills, able to work in a systematic way
6. Good leadership and coaching skills with a proven ability to set a vision, manage change, challenge and to influence people at all levels of the organisation
7. Fluent in English and another foreign language would be a plus, but not necessary.
