The Dexter Institute Private Career College offers specialized programs in Heavy Equipment Operation and Class 3 Commercial Driving. Graduating upwards of 50 students annually, the college was recently awarded the Consumer Choice Award in the category of Career and Business Education. We are currently seeking the expertise of a Program Manager to join our team from our office based in Bedford, NS.
Job Summary:
The Program Manager will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations and management of the Dexter Institute Private Career College. This role is crucial in ensuring the successful planning, delivery, and evaluation of programs, and in fostering a positive and supportive learning environment for students. The Program Manager will leverage their expertise in program administration, post-secondary education, and student management to drive the success of programs.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Program Planning & Coordination:
The Program Manager will oversee all aspects of program preparation and pre-launch activities, ensuring smooth execution from initial planning to program kickoff. This includes, but is not limited to:
o Developing and managing program schedules to ensure timelines are met, and resources are aligned with program goals.
o Leading the recruitment process which includes developing marketing activities, tracking applicants, conducting applicant interviews, and making admission decisions.
o Coordinating communications with prospective students, ensuring timely and clear updates.
o Preparing course materials and resources in collaboration with instructors and training support staff.
o Creating and maintaining detailed student records, delegating tasks as appropriate to support staff.
2. Program Delivery & Operations:
The Program Manager will ensure the seamless delivery of programs, serving as the central point of contact for students, instructors, and other stakeholders. Responsibilities include:
o Acting as the primary point of contact for enrolled students, providing support and guidance throughout their learning experience.
o Collaborating with instructors to ensure they have the necessary resources and support for effective course delivery.
o Maintaining regular communication with the leadership team, addressing potential challenges and ensuring proactive problem-solving.
o Managing student behavior and performance, providing coaching or corrective actions as needed, and leading any formal disciplinary procedures.
o Overseeing the creation, management, and distribution of key documents including attendance records, transcripts, annual reports, and graduation certificates.
o Managing multiple online portals for student record-keeping and ensuring compliance with institutional policies and standards.
Other Duties:
* Perform additional tasks as assigned to support program success and institutional goals.
Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education, and Experience:
* Minimum 3 years’ experience in program administration/management.
* Strong leadership, organizational and communication skills.
* Detail oriented with strong problem-solving skills, particularly in an academic setting.
* Thrive in a collaborative work environment.
* Experience working with students and instructors in a post-secondary setting, with a focus on student success and leadership.
* A post-secondary education in adult education is preferred.
