University Hospitals Sussex NHS Foundation Trust (279)
The ENT department covers Brighton, Worthing and QVH, a population of 750,000. In addition for Head and Neck cancer, Eastbourne and Hastings patients are treated in Brighton (400,000).
All types of ENT treatment are undertaken including advanced otology & skull base surgery. Advanced audiology facilities are present on the RSCH site.
The main OPD base is the RSCH with elective otology lists operations within Hurstwood Park, Haywards Heath and Royal Alexandra Children's Hospital. The ENT ward is shared with Neurosciences. The Children's Hospital is also on the RSCH site. At PRH there are OPD facilities and day surgery facilities.
Worthing has a 5 day ENT department with OPD, Audiology and inpatient/day case facilities. The Worthing department benefits from a newly refurbished out-patients department shared with MFU.
Medical student teaching is now a regular part of the department's workload.
Main duties of the job
The clinical duties of the post include the following:
* Operating sessions
* Outpatient clinic
* MDT
* On call
* Consultant of the week
* Teaching and training of juniors
On Call Commitment: Consultants work a 1:10 Consultant of the Week rota and 1:8 weekend on-call rota.

Experience and Qualifications
* MBBS or equivalent licence to practice or appropriate specialist qualification
* Full GMC Registration with a licence to practice
* CCT in ENT or equivalent (equivalence must be confirmed by GMC by date of AAC)
* Entry onto the GMC Specialist Register or eligibility for entry within 6 months of the date of the AAC
* Distinctions, Scholarships, prizes, other degrees e.g. BSc MSc, MS
* Evidence of post graduate training in ENT at Fellowship Level
* Evidence of a commitment to a career in ENT.
* Understanding of clinical risk management
