Job Description
To practically support the implementation of the Young Carers Strategy and associated Implementation Plan and reporting on its progress. The post holder will also be responsible for supporting and developing initiatives in relation to Young Carers.
Responsibilities
To promote and facilitate integrated working practice between core services of Education and Social Work, Health, Police, Housing, Third Sector, Carers Support Service and other relevant services which support the needs of children, young people and their families.
To monitor and report progress with the Young Carers Implementation Plan.
To work collaboratively with all parties to meet the Young Carers Strategy objectives and associated plans and initiatives e.g. National Carers Strategy, NHS Carer Information Strategy, Change Fund.
To continue to deliver and develop initiatives aimed at achieving the objectives of the Moray Carers Strategy and to contribute to the strategic planning for carers services.
The Individual
• Experience in a relevant discipline to include
• Direct experience of working with children and young people
• Awareness of current legislation, policy and strategy in relation to young carers
• Educated to SVQ Level 8 – HND / Degree
• IT skills including Microsoft Word Programmes e.g. Word and Excel and relevant national databases.
• Working knowledge of and ability to work effectively within relevant child care legislation and practice.
• Effective report writing skills.
• Effective communication skills.
• Effective organisational skills.
• Clear thinking and good analytic abilities.
• Effective, practical, time management and organisational skills.
• Self-confident and self-motivated.
• Ability to work within budgetary constraints.
• Ability to motivate, support, challenge, and work effectively with colleagues and clients.
• Demonstrable ability for co-working.
• Ability to make decisions on the basis of relevant/key information and intelligence
• Able to work effectively under pressure and to meet prescribed deadlines
• You will be expected to travel efficiently and effectively between various work locations within Moray to meet the operational requirements of the Service. Due to the rural nature of Moray this is normally undertaken by use of a car/van.

• Effective communication (written and verbal), creative and presentation skills.
