Bank Prevention & Management of Violence & Aggression (PMVA) Trainer
Under the supervision of the Prevention and Management of Violence and Aggression Advisor, the post holder will provide PMVA training and personal safety advice to all staff groups in line with Health & Safety at Work etc. Act 1974, the All-Wales NHS Violence and Aggression Passport and other associated legislation and guidance including The Anti-Violence Collaborative Wales.
Support for the provision of Personal Safety, Violence and Aggression training and education throughout Powys Teaching Health Board, including supporting the planning and administration of training sessions and assessment of competence ensuring the most advanced techniques are embedded.
As directed by the PMVA Advisor, deliver to groups and provide 1-2-1 support where required. This may include service user's families and training on de-escalation techniques and conflict resolution.
Provide advice to managers and staff on Violence and Aggression, Personal Safety issues, reducing restrictive practices and risk assessments.
Responsible for working within national guidelines. Ensure all training has considered the equality and diversity of the audience and is rooted in all training packages.
Main duties of the job
Planning and Design:
1. Support the planning and organisation of a broad range of specialist Violence and Aggression training programmes, including training to meet the complex needs of the services by delivering bespoke packages that will meet the needs of staff and key stakeholders e.g., working with dementia, mental health and minor injuries patients and families.
2. Support the PMVA Advisor with the design, development of materials, presentations and training delivery of Violence and Aggression.
Improvement and Monitoring:
1. Assist managers and staff to conduct risk assessments in Violence and Aggression and Personal Safety whilst ensuring compliance to policy and procedures.
2. Analyse sensitive and confidential data and feedback to PMVA Advisor to initiate training priorities.
3. Reporting and escalating development needs of staff to the PMVA Advisor in line with the national and organisational Violence and Aggression policy.
4. As directed, research, develop and investigate incidents as a key aspect to the role reporting trends, solutions and steps taken to mitigate reoccurrence of incidents.

Person Specification
Qualifications
* Diploma of Higher Education (DipHE) or equivalent
* Understanding of the Mental Health Act
* Knowledge of NMC Code of Conduct
* Relevant qualification in PMVA/Accredited Restrictive Intervention Trainer (General Services Association) qualification or willing to work towards
* Clinical experience of working within mental health or learning disabilities settings
Experience
* Demonstrate a practical, problem-solving approach to Violent and Aggressive incidents based on evidence-based practice
* Be physically capable of teaching the practical aspects of PMVA training
* Presentation/teaching skills
* Awareness of Human Rights and Equality and Diversity principles
* Experience of dealing with complex situations and incidents specifically relating to Violence and Aggression
* Knowledge of Health & Safety Legislation and Law
Skills and Attributes
* Need to be and maintain physical fitness to be able to demonstrate Violence and Aggression training e.g., breakaway techniques
* Confident in delivering training at all levels and have the necessary influencing skills to deal with situations where there may be barriers to accepting change
* Manage own workload effectively
* Managing a learning environment by coaching/mentoring, influencing, problem-solving, creativity, innovation and motivation of staff
* Competent in presentation skills with excellent communication skills
* Ability to speak Welsh
