We're currently looking to recruit Student Door Staff. No experience required! If you're interested, read on and send us an application form.
We welcome applications from everyone, so don’t worry if you have never worked in this area before. We have a training programme for all of our staff, which helps you develop a wide variety of skills to take with you once you have finished University. There are just a few requirements that we ask of applicants for this role, which include:
APPLICANTS WILL BE REQUIRED TO HAVE EITHER A CURRENT VALID SIA LICENCE OR UNDERTAKE THE TRAINING TO OBTAIN ONE, THE COST OF THIS WILL BE REFUNDED TO YOU / PAID FOR BY THE SU.
Requirements:
1. Hold an SIA approved licence
2. Be a current York St John University student
3. The ability to demonstrate excellent customer service skills
4. Ability to work independently, as well as part of a team
5. Keeping a clean and tidy work and guest environment
6. Primarily available evenings due to the nature of the role
7. MUST be available to work Saturdays
8. Availability to work key dates such as Arrivals Weekend / Week, Archies Days, Snowball, Spring Fling etc.
Main duties whilst working on the SU Door:
1. Ensuring the general safety of the customers, staff, venue managers and any volunteers in the Venue
2. Working within the Students’ Union delivering great customer service and contributing to student experience at YSJ
3. Engaging with customers, carrying out searches, monitoring venue capacities whilst working in a busy, social environment
4. Keeping the premises clean, tidy and free from spillages or other hazards before, during and after opening hours
5. Be observant and aware of events and to prevent potential problems whenever possible
6. Separate and diffuse difficult situations, as outlined in your SIA training and further internal venue training
7. To monitor and encourage appropriate standards of behaviour
8. Flexible hours around your university studies
