Medway Council Youth Service is recruiting a Team Leader and three Assistant Youth Development Workers to form a new Wrap Around Support Project. The team will develop support packages for young people working with Medway Children’s Service that reduce their risk and vulnerability, while promoting personal growth and development. It will develop work with young people that strengthens home and educational placements and reduces risk through building trusted relationships and positive engagement with other services. The project will support young people before, during and after school, improving access to out-of-school activities and promoting the development of personal, social, and relational skills. It will therefore involve significant out-of-hours working, including evenings and weekends.
Applicants should have significant experience of working with vulnerable young people, with a range of training and expertise. Expertise in working with gangs and criminal exploitation, tackling sexual exploitation and supporting young people on the edge of care or in the care system would be an advantage.
Applicants for the Assistant Youth Development Worker roles would benefit from level 2 or 3 youth work qualifications or equivalent, but a range of training and qualification backgrounds will be considered for these posts.
