Key Areas of Responsibility Supporting Quality & Clinical Governance team in providing a comprehensive infection control service to EBPC. Act as the first point of contact for infection prevention and control within EBPC. Participate in the Infection Prevention and Control annual audit programme. Participate in the Infection Prevention and Control surveillance and educational programmes. Work collaboratively with colleagues to lead actions to improve standards of cleanliness within areas of responsibility. Undertake environmental cleanliness audits, cleanliness and hand hygiene compliance and monitoring achievement of NHS Cleaning standards. Co-ordinate the regular audit of infection prevention and control measures and propose updates to policies /protocols as and when necessary, in conjunction with the Clinical Governance & Quality team. Plan, prioritise and organise own workload to meet deadlines and the needs of the services. Work collaboratively with staff across clinical and non-clinical areas, utilising resources available. Evaluate new techniques and equipment with reference to Infection Prevention and Control procedures and practices. Work collaboratively with Estates & Facilities to lead actions to improve standards of cleanliness within areas of responsibility and support the monthly compliance of water safety and ventilation. Ensure clinical waste is removed from clinical areas and sharps bins replaced in accordance with the Infection Prevention and Control Policy.Communication Communicate effectively with patients and carers, recognising the need for alternative methods of communication to overcome different levels of understanding, cultural background, and preferred ways of communicating.
