Base pay range
Our client is looking for a Specialist Chemist to conduct, document and report a range of studies and investigations to improve their service offerings and quality of test results.
Responsibilities:
1. Provide advanced analytical chemistry expertise to support the inorganic department.
2. Contribute to the development of method validation packages that comply with accreditation standards.
3. Review and create detailed plans to update methods within the inorganic department, ensuring they reflect industry best practices.
4. Research and develop new inorganic analytical techniques as needed by clients and the business.
5. Investigate and perform non-routine methodology and data generation based on client and business requirements.
6. Assist in the review and presentation of resource development initiatives that aim to enhance analytical methodologies.
7. Support the quality team during scheduled audits and assist in improving the laboratory's quality standards.
8. Implement business improvement initiatives across the inorganics lab, enhancing instrument availability, reducing rework, decreasing customer queries, and improving overall analytical capabilities and client service.
9. Provide technical support to the sales and marketing team, helping with client acquisition and onboarding processes.
10. Contribute to the future planning of the inorganics lab, including capacity assessments, selection of new instruments, and purchasing of consumables.
11. Assist in implementing the Quality Management System and supporting procedures.
12. Identify and communicate any deviations or issues with laboratory quality and test procedures.
13. Ensure compliance with quality control procedures to facilitate continuous improvement in laboratory practices.
14. Raise and conduct thorough investigations into non-conformances, including equipment failures, QC issues, and customer complaints, in a timely manner.
15. Provide assistance to colleagues in areas of expertise as needed.
Requirements:
* Degree or equivalent in a scientific discipline.
* Minimum of 5 years experience in a relevant analytical role (inorganics).
* Understanding of IEC/ISO 17025, MCERTS, ISO 9001, other ISO standards and Quality Management Systems.
* Troubleshooting skills.
