As a Phlebotomist, you will be responsible for performing venepuncture, as requested by the clinical team, to the entitled patient population in the general practice. The post-holder will be expected to support the nursing team on an as required basis, supported by the direction of the lead nurse and as part of the practice multidisciplinary team.
Main Duties of the Job
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Performing venepuncture in accordance with practice protocols
2. Obtaining patient consent for the collection of a blood sample
3. Maintaining accurate patient records on SystmOne clinical system
4. The correct labelling, packaging and storing of samples
5. Effective use of the specimen log, resolving any discrepancies
6. Ensuring samples are sent to the laboratory in a timely manner
7. Working collaboratively with the nursing team, seeking guidance when necessary for patient-related matters
KEY REQUIREMENTS
1. Experience working in General Practice
2. Effectively able to communicate and understand the needs of the patient
