Independent Chair
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join us on our improvement Journey here at Trafford Council. As Independent Chair of our Improving Lives Everyday Board (ILEB), you will be at the heart of Trafford’s commitment to service excellence and the well-being of our communities.
The Improving Lives Everyday Programme focuses on having efficient, effective, and modern practices and opportunities for both our workforce and our residents within Adult Social Care. Recognising the scale of the challenge, Adult Social Care’s Senior Leadership Team has been exploring several projects that could help realise the Council’s ambition as well as delivering savings in a challenging financial environment.
The Independent Chair will play a pivotal role in steering the Improving Lives Everyday Board towards its mission to deliver high-quality care and support services for adults.
As the Independent Chair, you will ensure that the Improving Lives Everyday Board provides robust strategic oversight of service improvement initiatives necessary to achieve enhanced outcomes for adults in need of care and support, or at the cusp of doing so, within Trafford.
Skills and Attributes -
* Relevant professional experience in Health or Social Care at senior level.
* Exceptional governance, strategic thinking, and mediation of stakeholder interests.
* High emotional intelligence, adaptability, commitment to continuous improvement of adult social care and system working.
* Strong communication, negotiation, and the ability to inspire trust.
* Ability to navigate complex relationships and respond to dynamic environments.
* A respectful and empathetic approach, with the courage to tackle difficult issues.
Commitment
* A commitment of 2 days per month will be required, with flexibility for additional responsibilities as needed by prior agreement. This would be a mixture of in person and hybrid working, with an expectation that there is face to face attendance at scheduled Adult Social Care ILE Board meetings.
Remuneration
* Payment will be £800 per day (inclusive of expenses) for up to 30 days per year and pro rata for part time days, with an expectation of a minimum of 2 days per month. A working day is 7 hours and 15 minutes.
* The post is of a self-employed status. The post is initially required until 30 April 2026 (subject to review 6 months before expiry).
