Description The Service & Team: The Health Safety and Wellbeing Team is a part of the People Service for Cornwall Council. We provide expert health, safety and wellbeing advice and support for Cornwall Council and a range of external clients including Schools, Colleges and Town and Parish Councils. The Role: The Senior HSW Coordinator role provides technical support and advice on all aspects of health and safety including participating in a health and safety Helpdesk and through onsite visits to Council premises, schools, colleges and Town and Parish Councils throughout Cornwall. You will support managers and Head Teachers in developing their health and safety management systems and conduct inspections, audits, reviews and incident investigations. This is a public/customer-facing role, where the statutory English language requirement for public sector workers applies. This position will be subject to an enhanced criminal record disclosure check. Working Pattern: This is a full-time position (37 hours per week) where you will be required to travel throughout Cornwall and occasionally beyond to visit sites and attend meetings. What you’ll need to succeed: You will need to have the NEBOSH General Certificate in Health and Safety (or equivalent), or be willing to undertake this qualification within 6 months of appointment. You will have excellent communication skills to be able to influence managers at all levels and the ability to problem solve and apply the principals of sensible risk management to a range of working environments. We use a number of specialist IT systems which you will be trained on but you should have a good understanding of Microsoft based products and systems.
