Job overview
This is a brilliant opportunity for a dedicated and self-motivated individual to consider joining our Asbestos Team, part of the wider Estates & Facilities division at MFT. Working across our sites you’ll look after the coordination and completion of asbestos re-inspections, ensuring that we meet our statutory requirements and being an invaluable part of helping to manage our asbestos risks.
This role offers you an unrivalled opportunity to apply your knowledge and experience in asbestos surveying whilst helping to support and develop your experience in all aspects of asbestos management. As a developing team we would welcome your support and input in helping to produce and update the systems and procedures with which you will work.
In addition, you’ll also play an active role in supporting the operational estates teams, working with capital site development and assessing the quality and standards of asbestos contractors working at the Trust.
The size, scale, and complexity of our Trust means that this role will offer variation and challenges that will keep the work interesting, whilst still offering the quality of life benefits that are not always achievable in the asbestos sector. Wherever your interests lie, we’ll support you to develop your skills to become an expert in your field.
Main duties of the job
Using your qualifications and experience as an asbestos surveyor you’ll work with internal and external stakeholders to plan, deliver, and document the asbestos re-inspections across the MFT estate. Taking responsibility for this work-stream you will ensure that internal policies and regulatory requirements are met.
You’ll liaise with a wide range of stakeholders at all levels both face to face, over the telephone and in email so the confidence, professionalism, and personality to network and communicate at ease is paramount.
Your organisational and planning skills will help you to prioritise the routine inspections against more reactive or urgent workstreams which will help support maintenance, capital schemes, the site asbestos managers, and emergency situations.
You will spend a good percentage of your time applying your IT and reporting skills as you ensure that the inspections you undertake on site are reflected in clear, accurate reporting and register updates & development.
The role will provide many opportunities for professional and career development, on-the-job experience of all aspects of asbestos management will be provided by the team. These will be complemented by formal training and development opportunities where appropriate.
