Job Mission
ASML is seeking a Cost Engineer specializing in optics, optical assemblies, opto-mechanics, and opto-electronic assemblies for the Industrialization / Advanced Development Center / Optical Module Department. This department reports to the Design & Engineering Department in ASML's Wilton, CT location. The group develops advanced optical systems for ASML's complex lithography & metrology systems. The Supplier Quality Engineering & Cost Engineering Group in Wilton CT is seeking an experienced and knowledgeable cost engineer with direct experience in optics fabrication, optical assembly manufacturing, and cost analysis.
Job Description
The main focus of this position will be:
1. Work with optical, mechanical, and electrical designers and manufacturing experts to understand the cost drivers of ASML's optical products to influence the design to optimize the cost-to-value proposition.
2. Be an expert resource for designers and manufacturing engineers for understanding manufacturing engineering & cost tradeoffs.
3. Capable of developing cost models for components & assemblies to assist in improving cost-of-goods planning and assessment.
4. Prepare detailed and summary cost analysis reports as necessary for project management to adequately control product costs.
5. Work effectively with the design and manufacturing team to help define optimized manufacturing process flows to assure product manufacturability, and drive for a fully industrialized design to assure compliance to cost, cycle-time, and quality requirements.
Education
Preferred Bachelor of Science in Optics Technology, Optical Science & Engineering, Optics Fab/Manufacturing, Industrial Engineering, or equivalent experience.
Experience
- Minimum of 10 years experience in the development and production of high-end optics, optical components, and optical systems, and/or the precision manufacturing of high-end optics and optical measurement systems.
- Experienced in optics fabrication and optical assembly manufacturing operations like high precision CNC machining, optical polishing, IBF, optical assembly techniques, metrology, interferometry, etc. Knowledge of advanced manufacturing automation and industrialization is a plus.
- Knowledge of typical optics and optical assembly raw materials such as optical glass, ceramics, stainless steel, titanium, castings, extrusion, high-end industrial plastics, etc.
- Understanding supplier and supply chain (advanced) manufacturing capabilities and preferable their financial value stream and costs. Working in design teams for design to cost, supplier account teams for cost down tactics and suppliers cost down opportunities.
