The Skye and Lochalsh Integrated Health & Social Care Team has a vacancy for a Social Worker within its busy Portree and Broadford Offices. The Team works closely with other disciplines such as nursing and mental health teams to provide a multi-disciplinary and integrated service in a beautiful but remote and rural setting.
This is an exciting opportunity for a qualified social worker to work in a community care context with adults. We are a small and motivated Team that works hard to support adults with care needs in Skye and Lochalsh. Good team working skills are essential as we work closely to support each other in meeting the diverse range of challenges we face.
Roles include:
1. Supporting vulnerable adults and their families and carers
2. Working with clients with a person-centred approach
3. Working within relevant legislation including the Adult Support and Protection, Adults with Incapacity, and Mental Health Acts
4. Working with other NHS professionals to provide a multi-disciplinary framework to interventions
5. Assessment and report writing
6. Arranging, with the client’s consent, care packages to meet assessed need
7. Working as part of a multi-disciplinary service which supports adults living within a large remote and rural geographical area with the potential challenges this can present
Flexible working is encouraged, and an application for part-time or job share would also be considered. Help may be available with accommodation.
Due to the rural nature of the area, a driving licence is essential, and applicants should have access to their own vehicle for work purposes.
Applicants should be registered with the Scottish Social Services council on the ‘Social worker’ part of the register and hold a qualification that is recognised by the SSSC as being equivalent to the Diploma in Social Work (DipSW).
NHS Scotland is committed to encouraging equality and diversity among our workforce and eliminating unlawful discrimination. The aim is for our workforce to be truly representative and for each employee to feel respected and able to give their best. To this end, NHS Scotland welcomes applications from all sections of society.
