About your new role
Our Public Sector team is one of the largest in the UK, with extensive experience working with local authorities, local authority consortia, police forces, fire authorities and NHS Trusts. Our approach is focused on solving our client's legal problems as quickly, efficiently and cost-effectively as possible. We are brand leaders in defendant litigation services for local and public authorities, with in-depth expertise in all types of claims including motor, public liability and employers' liability. We are currently recruiting for a NQ - 2 PQE to join our Casualty team in Birmingham.
Main duties and responsibilities
1. Manage a caseload of non-litigated and litigated claims on behalf of local authorities including but not limited to highways claims, occupiers liability and some EL claims.
2. Assist the Partner in the team with more complex claims including social care claims and Human Rights type claims.
3. Assist the TM and other team members with their cases, client development, client training and networking.
4. Liaise with various parties such as other solicitors, insurers, experts, counsel and clients.
5. Control Case Manager diary and action lists.
6. Draft various documents such as letters and reports.
7. Satisfy standards of client care in accordance with guidelines and directions.
8. Complete Client MI procedures.
9. Achieve set financial and chargeable targets.
10. Comply with relevant rules, policies and procedures.
11. Keep up to date with legal developments.
12. Work in accordance with Weightmans’ values.

About You
1. Experience of defending litigated claims essential but candidates who have Claimant litigation experience will also be considered.
2. Prior experience dealing with personal injury claims is highly desirable.
3. Candidates must have a minimum of 2:1 degree.
4. Excellent knowledge of the CPR, the fixed costs regime and litigation.
5. Excellent organisation skills.

8. Excellent IT skills.
9. Ability to work to strict deadlines and targets.
