Join our creative and dynamic team as our Design and Impact Engagement Lead in the Improvement and Transformation team! In this role, you will focus on three key areas: change/service design, the impact of change, and change engagement and management.
As a subject matter expert, you will lead initiatives, provide specialist advice, and develop strategies, tools, and techniques to enhance our team's and organisation's improvement capabilities. You will also coach and mentor team members to ensure successful implementation and sustainability of change initiatives.

Main duties of the job
The Design and Impact Engagement Lead focuses on three main areas: change/service design, the impact of change, and change engagement and management. As subject matter expert in these areas for the Improvement and Transformation team, the role involves leading, offering specialist advice, developing and overseeing strategies, tools, and techniques, coaching and enhancing the team's and organisation's overall improvement capabilities in these specialist areas.
In this role you will...
* Lead Improvement Projects: Oversee the design phase, developing service models and innovative solutions that enhance patient outcomes and operational efficiency.
* Measure Impact: Implement frameworks to assess the social, financial, and environmental impacts of changes on patients and stakeholders.
* Enhance Change Engagement: Develop and execute a comprehensive change management strategy, ensuring it is embedded in all transformation initiatives.
* Foster Collaboration: Guide teams through the design process, ensuring solutions are practical, inclusive, and address health inequalities.
* Communicate Outcomes: Effectively share results of change initiatives with stakeholders, highlighting successes and key insights.

Change/Service Design Expertise and Leadership
* Lead the design phase for improvement projects, developing innovative service models that enhance patient outcomes and operational efficiency.
* Coach staff through the design process to ensure practical solutions that align with organisational priorities.
* Tailor solutions using behavioural science and human-centred design principles.
* Collaborate to create design briefs that define resources and goals, and develop personas and journey maps.
* Address health inequalities by embedding co-production and considering diverse needs.
* Analyse systems for improvement opportunities and present complex information with empathy.
Impact of Change
* Lead evaluation strategies to assess impacts of changes on patients, staff, and stakeholders.
* Develop team skills in impact measurement and communicate outcomes effectively to stakeholders.
* Integrate feedback from past initiatives to drive continuous improvement.
Change Engagement
* Implement a comprehensive change management framework across improvement initiatives.
* Enhance team skills in change management through coaching and training.
* Improve communication and engagement, ensuring employee feedback is integrated and motivations for change are understood.
Person Specification
Qualifications and Training
* Educated to Master's Degree level or able to demonstrate management experience to this level.
* Extensive knowledge of specialist areas acquired through post graduate diploma/master's degree or significant equivalent experience in a relevant field.
* A strong portfolio that demonstrates applied experience of service design methodologies.
* Recognised leadership training or qualification.
* Recognised change management qualification or training.
Experience
* Strong experience in service design and design methodologies.
* Extensive knowledge of change management principles and best practices.
* Proven ability to build collaborative relationships with diverse stakeholders.
* Skilled in managing complex transformation and delivering innovative solutions.
Knowledge & Skills
* Strong knowledge of service design tools, including user-centred design, co-creation, and prototyping.
* Expertise in benefits realisation and impact measurement methodologies.
* Strong theoretical and practical expertise in change management.
* Strong verbal and written communication skills, with skills in engaging diverse audiences, facilitating workshops, and storytelling for stakeholder engagement.
* Ability to drive innovation in design and engagement through creative and strategic thinking.
* Skilled in coaching and training others to enhance their skills and support their development.
