Environment Manager
An Environment Manager experienced in ensuring environmental compliance and provide technical support for the design and construction phases of large-scale projects, aligning with organisational standards, environmental commitments, and legal regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Technical Assurance: Oversee the production and verification of assurance evidence for technical stage gates, ensuring asset design and construction adhere to technical requirements, environmental commitments, and regulations.
2. Project Team Coordination: Assist the Senior Environment Manager in managing the environmental aspects of the HS2 project, coordinating with Integrated Project Teams (IPT) for risk-based technical assurance.
3. Regulatory Compliance: Authorize mandatory approvals, verifying contractor designs and construction works meet Environmental Minimum Requirements (EMRs), focusing on General Principles and the Code of Construction Practice (CoCP).
4. Communication Management: Manage the conveyance of HS2 Environment & Sustainability requirements to IPT contractors.
5. Environmental Design Guidance: Provide direction on environmental design solutions, ensuring environmental considerations are integral to project design.
6. Reporting: Support the Senior Environment Manager in internal and external environmental reporting.
7. Stakeholder Engagement: Engage with technical stakeholders and the local community on environmental matters at various levels.
8. Mitigation Strategy Development: Collaborate with technical experts to create cost-effective environmental mitigation strategies and solutions.
9. EDI Advocacy: Champion Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) in all activities, adhering to organizational initiatives and policies.
About You:
10. Applicable UK environmental law and other relevant construction (including CDM ) regulations.
11. Understanding of the Regulatory/Legislative Framework relevant to HS2.
12. Commercial awareness including understanding of cost delivery, schedule targets and the need to deliver an integrated solution that meets all functional requirements.
13. Membership of an appropriate professional institution or the equivalent experience.
14. Experience in managing standards, engineering and environmental activity on large complex major projects/programmes.
15. Experience of managing competing project, engineering and environmental demands, with cost and schedule implications. Technical Leadership: Offer specialist support on environmental principles, seeking expert advice when necessary.
16. Decision Making: Utilize analytical skills to inform stakeholders, making decisions based on sound reasoning and data.
17. Regulatory Knowledge: Understand the regulatory and legislative framework pertinent to HS2.
18. Commercial Awareness: Recognize the importance of cost, schedule, and the delivery of a solution meeting all requirements.
19. Project Management Experience: Handle standards, engineering, and environmental tasks within large-scale projects.
20. Balancing Demands: Manage the interplay between project, engineering, and environmental needs, considering cost and time constraints.
