We have an exciting opportunity to recruit a highly motivated Postdoctoral Research Assistant to join the research program focused on developing vaccines against arthropod-borne pathogens within the Jenner Institute, Nuffield Department of Medicine. You will be reporting to Dr. César López-Camacho, Group leader and Jenner Investigator, working on the molecular design of genetic-based vaccines for Dengue virus, with a focus on mRNA and viral-vectored technologies.
Responsibilities:
1. Manage your own academic research and administrative activities.
2. Conduct rigorous scientific research to the highest standards of the field.
3. Independently research published material and keep up to date with relevant literature.
4. Test hypotheses and analyze scientific data from a variety of sources.
5. Review and refine working hypotheses as appropriate.
Qualifications:
It is essential you hold a relevant PhD/DPhil (or close to completion) in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, or a related field. You must have hands-on experience with in vitro transcription, mRNA handling, and mRNA analytics, as well as experience in flavivirus and expertise in Lipid Nanoparticle (LNP) formulations. Excellent communication skills, including the ability to write for publication, present research proposals and results, and represent the research group at meetings are essential for this role.
This position is offered full time on a fixed term contract until 31 January 2026 and is funded by the Calleva Foundation. You may also benefit from being associated with the Calleva Centre for Evolution and Human Science at Magdalen College, providing access to a vibrant academic community.

Salary: Research Grade 7: Salary in range £38,674 - £45,628 per annum (pro rata). This is inclusive of a pensionable Oxford University Weighting of £1,500 per year (pro rata).
