Job Purpose As part of a small finance team the Financial Accountant will assist the Financial Accounts Lead and Financial Controller in providing a financial accounting and compliance service for B&D Reside. Key Deliverables Production of Balance Sheet reconciliations in a timely manner Support the audit process and liaison with our Auditors in answering questions and providing timely information to support deadlines Support the Financial Accounts Lead to produce the annual Financial Statements for each entity ready for audit Maintain financial records and where appropriate, inputting transactions and preparing weekly and monthly journals as required. Liaison and supporting the Commercial Accounts team in their production of Management Accounts Prepare VAT returns, and regulatory, statistical and other returns Respond to financial queries from internal and external stakeholders Assist the Financial Accounts Lead and Financial Controller with specific projects as required Liaison and supporting the Council and their other operating companies ensuring accurate records are recorded Proactively provide the Reside Executive and Management team with the information that they need to make informed decisions and be open and timely in alerting the Financial Accounts Lead, Financial Controller and Director of Finance & Governance to matters that present a risk or material concern to Reside, its reputation and viability. Within reason these key deliverables may evolve to meet service need, especially as we are a rapidly growing business sand a newly established team and it is expected that you will be flexible and adaptable in your delivery to meet Reside’s need. Essential Requirements (key skills & qualifications) Newly qualified accountant or finalist Experience of compiling balance sheet reconciliations to audit standard in a company or similar organisation or experience of auditing them as an external auditor in a professional firm. Good understanding and experience of the financial year end process Strong ability to develop relationships with a range of stakeholders and influence effectively Effective communication skills Excellent Excel and Microsoft Office skills: able to use Excel functions such as Lookups and Pivot tables. Comfortable working on Microsoft Teams Able to analyse, interpret, explain and summarise data and issues in a logical, straightforward manner. Good numerical skills Good understanding of accounting standards and practices Able to demonstrate a well organised, hands on and systematic approach to work Experience of using large accounting packages Desirable Requirements (key skills & qualifications) Understanding of accounting requirements for Charities Experience of working in or auditing a complex company group structure Ability to draft year-end financial statements
