Assistant Quantity Surveyor

Due to continued and sustained growth in the UK the company is now looking to recruit an Assistant Quantity Surveyor to support their further ambitious expansion plans across Scotland. Hybrid working is available, with an office presence required for 2-3 days a week.
The successful individual must have relevant commercial experience in the civil engineering, rail, infrastructure or utilities sectors and possess a working knowledge of NEC contracts.

The Role
Work closely with internal teams and operations staff to ensure that the companys commercial position is maintained and protected at all times
Work under deadline pressures in an efficient, composed and calm manner
Work with suppliers and sub-contractors with the aim to improve performance and profit if possible
Support project commercial activities
Assist with risk and opportunity identification and management
Check that contracts have been drawn up prior to commencement of works
Vetting of terms, contract evaluations, and sub-contract procurement and selection
Provide commercial and contractual support to operations and internal teams
Attend meetings as required, including project commencement and close outs
Undertake audits to ensure good practice and compliance with company procedures and client or contract specifications
Support the provision of project accounts, including the measurement and agreement of interim assessments, early warning notifications, WIP, compensation events and change etc.
Financial reconciliation and managing other associated contractual administration
Preparation of weekly and monthly CVR reports, including KPI information
Preparing and agreeing final accounts
Preparation and administration of subcontract accounts and required documents
The Person
Previous experience in the capacity of being a member of a commercial team within a relevant field (civil engineering, utilities, rail, infrastructure etc)
Working knowledge of NEC3 Contracts
Knowledge of the general construction sequence for an array of project types
Ability to apply the principles of quantity surveying and commercial governance
Experience of sub-contracting principles
Ability to implement procedures to quantify the cost of construction works, including the use of appropriate methods of measurement
Effective negotiation skills with both internal and external clients and teams
