We’re looking for
a Transport Supervisor to cover Maternity Leave to support our Tesco contract in Widnes. Working on a 4 on 4 off Night shift, You’ll be responsible for supporting the Transport Manager in the overall running of a safe, efficient and cost-effective transport operation.

What you’ll do on a typical day:
1. I am the Transport supervisor to the Transport function of the Distribution Centre, reporting to an Shift Manager
2. I ensure all administrative traffic duties are carried out as necessary and to a high level of accuracy and professionalism
3. I support the Shift Manager with communication to the Distribution Centre and Stores.
4. I deputise for the Shift Manager in their absence
5. I oversee and direct the clerks on my shift, ensuring the defect, pre brief and de brief process is adhered to
6. I ensure that details of vehicle accidents are investigated & escalated to line management
7. I ensure that the procedure for damaged, out of temp deliveries & loss is followed
8. where necessary, ensuring investigations are completed and escalated.
9. I liaise with Microlise on all non-tracking assets, logging tickets seeing the repair or fix from end to end
10. I oversee, conduct, and distribute the VOR report for the shift
11. I ensure that the defect process is followed at all times, escalating any issues to the Transport Operations Manager
12. I ensure service trailers and vehicles are locked off in preparation for the next shift
13. I monitor driver performance and compliance, Including Tachomaster reporting and Driver scoring
14. I monitor vehicle compliance on Tachomaster and Trailermaster
15. I complete customer or XPO KPI’s as required
16. I ensure all good to go assets are back in service by liaising with shunters
17. I support the Shift Manager with the Shunter rota ensuring sufficient cover for current and next shift
What you need to succeed at XPO:
18. A proven track record as a Transport Supervisor or a Transport Shift Manager within a fast-paced distribution
19. Good working knowledge of Microlise and Tachomaster systems
20. At least 2 years’ experience of progressively more responsible jobs within Operations or Planning
21. Planning skills and problem-solving skills
22. Transport management CPC would be beneficial but not essential.
23. Excellent working knowledge of transport compliance
24. The ability to lead, motivate and inspire your team with a real drive for optimisation and continuous improvement
