Part time/Fixed term from November 2024 - July 2025

About the Role
There is a new opportunity in the Nottingham School of Art and Design to work as a Research Fellow with Professor Katherine Townsend on a Circular Clothing Design project. The role is ideal for an applicant with experience in research into sustainability, design for longevity and/or circularity, who is interested in being involved in the ongoing development and testing of a Reusable PPE Gown System - to better support people and planet.
The role encompasses general project management duties, including communicating with, documenting collaborations with partners and stakeholders in the PPE, healthcare, and clothing design industries. Assisting with follow-on funding applications and identifying new partners to explore and extend the sustainable benefits of the gown system will also be part of the role.
In addition to undertaking desk-based research and administrative support, there are creative opportunities for facilitating repurposing workshops and pilot studies with fashion and textile SMEs to scope potential repurposing strategies.
Professor Townsend is a member of the Sustainable Transitions group, within the Fashion and Textile Research Centre. The group investigates diverse pathways toward sustainable fashion and textile systems, from industry-facing initiatives to practice-based design research and speculative explorations.
Interview date: week commencing 11th November 2024
