Scope
To co-ordinate personal care and nursing care to our Residents in line with the core values and values framework of the Home ensuring these are utilised at all times and to ensure that such care is delivered in line with the Residents' individual care plan which reflects current needs. To ensure care that is delivered is safe, caring, effective and responsive to the Residents' needs, and play a part in creating and promoting an environment where excellence can flourish.
To ensure scope of practice is in line with the Home's policies and procedures and the NMC Code of Conduct. To work within the operating framework of the Home with regards to the job level ensuring that all policies and procedures are followed at all times.
What will my duties be?
1. You’ll learn how to provide trachea and ventilator care and help staff to deliver a range of care services, including social activities.
2. Ensuring that the personal care and other health needs of Residents are met and that assigned duties are executed in a professional and caring manner giving due regard to the Home's core values and values framework and the Skills for Care Code of Conduct for Health and Social Care Workers and the NMC Code of Conduct.
3. Ensuring all relevant clinical documentation is in place, reflects the current clinical and care needs of the Resident as is updated monthly (or more often if the Resident's condition changes) to ensure accurate records are maintained, in line with the Home's policies and procedures and NMC guidance on record keeping.
4. Administering prescribed medication to Residents in line with the instructions of the prescribing doctor and the Home's medication policies and procedures, and NMC guidance on the Standards of Medication Administration.
5. Monitoring the health needs of Residents to ensure appropriate escalation using the NEWs protocol to General Practitioner services or a local acute hospital as appropriate.
6. Working co-operatively with colleagues in the pursuit of the responsibilities of the post, with due regard to our diversity and inclusion framework and policies.
7. Carrying out the reasonable instructions of the senior nurse in charge or management staff to ensure optimal use of resources within the Home to ensure high quality care can be delivered at all times.
8. Attending rostered shifts as defined in the off-duty and to follow all HR policies and procedures in the event of being unable to attend for a rostered shift; understanding that such absence risks service levels and has the potential to compromise standards of care.
9. Ensuring concepts learnt during mandatory training sessions (health and safety, infection control, core values, and fire safety this is not an exhaustive list) are upheld and demonstrated in practice during your working shift.
10. To act at all times to uphold the CQC domains ensuring care delivered is safe, caring, effective and responsive.
11. Using the clinical governance framework and adverse event reporting procedures as per the Home's policy and procedures to identify and report any adverse events, particularly in respect of patient safety or other reportable events.
What do I need to be successful?
1. Essential Registered Nurse (RN1) with active NMC registration.
2. Understanding of NMC Code of Professional Conduct.
3. Proficiency in dispensing and administrating oral medication.
4. The ability to manage and prioritise conflicting workloads.
5. Interest to develop knowledge of the clinical speciality and own practice.
6. The ability to be flexible and adapt to changing situations and work effectively under pressure.
7. Able to manage patients' emotional needs and demonstrate empathy and caring.
8. Ability to solve and escalate problems and issues as well as communicating effectively both written and verbal.
9. To be able to work collaboratively with other staff members.
10. The drive and determination to achieve objectives.
11. Focused on continual personal development.
12. Enthusiasm for and belief in patient healthcare.
Desirable
1. Experience in a neuro rehabilitation environment.
2. Awareness and understanding of current neuro health issues.
3. Proficiency in dispensing and administrating medication.

5. Proven record in teaching/mentoring/supervising others.
6. Computer literacy skills.
7. Ability to lead a team to achieve results.
