FerringYou You will lead the Medical Affairs function for United Kingdom and Ireland (UKIE) cluster, through effective development and execution of the Local Medical Affairs strategy and operational plan, aligned with Regional and Global business strategy and medical plans. You will adapt Local initiatives, to ensure compliance with all applicable laws, codes, regulations, ethical and quality standards, to ensure the achievement of commercial goals and enable cross-functional stakeholders. You will serve as a member of the Local Leadership Team, and manage the Medical Affairs Team to develop and engage them. You are both a great people manager and have a strategical mindset, with a hands-on approach. Your day at Ferring Develop and execute the Medical Affairs strategy and plan in consultation with cross-functional partners for all Business Units, and in all therapeutic areas, in the UKIE cluster Collaborate with cross-functional partners as the primary medical / scientific leader, to establish, create and implement strategic and operational medical / scientific plans for the UKIE cluster, and aligns with Ferring’s Global and Regional strategy, to ensure the achievement of Global Medical Affairs, Regional and Local targets Lead the Local Medical Affairs Team (Medical Managers, Medical Advisors, MSLs, and other Specialist roles); define roles, responsibilities and capabilities; set clear, measurable goals; develop and grow Team members; recruit and onboard new Team members Deploy Local Medical Affairs resources to meet business needs and functional requirements, and oversee responsible budgetary control for the Medical Affairs function Interact with Global and Regional Medical Affairs to share Local input, field insights, and best practices, as required Represens of Ferring with authorities, patient organisations and external opinion leaders Engage and interact with external scientific and clinical experts (KEEs) in all therapeutic areas, on Local, Regional and Global Medical Affairs activities Provide medical / scientific perspectives, insights and oversight in executing data generation activities (research, clinical studies, RWE, patient programmes, data analysis, etc); assess, design, and lead data generation activities; ensure excellence in Local execution (timely, legally compliant, of a high-quality standard); propose and develop relevant data generation activities to support Local, Regional and Global objectives & strategy Contribute clinical expert opinions, and where appropriate, deliver training on products and therapies for internal and external customers Keep current, and up-to-date, by continuously monitoring and reporting on scientific developments, and competitor activities, in therapeutic areas relevant to Ferring’s interests and strategy and ensurs appropriate and timely awareness of the Medical Affairs team and relevant cross-functional stakeholders Manage Local Medical Operations team, and contribute hands-on, direct support as needed, for: Medical information, Medical Education, grants, publications, Local and Regional events, trainings, webinars etc, ad-boards, KOL mapping and engagements Review promotional, and relevant non-promotional, materials and activities in the appropriate systems and tools, to maintain compliance with all applicable SOPs, rules and regulations, and serve as a qualified Signatory for the United Kingdom Ensure compliance with GCP, SOPs, applicable guidelines and regulatory requirements for the UKIE cluster Behind our innovation…There’s you Medical Doctor strongly preferred Advanced university degree in a scientific discipline (PhD, PharmD) would be considered, in combination with relevant pharmaceutical industry experience 5 years’ progressive experience in Medical Affairs within the pharmaceutical sector Qualified in accordance with A BPI and PMCPA as a Medical Signatory for the United Kingdom, required Progressive leadership responsibilities (3 years), including: business partnering, people management, team engagement and talent development Expertise in medical / scientific areas within the pharmaceutical sector, ideally including clinical operations Current understanding of Local medical and pharmaceutical regulations, legal obligations, compliance requirements, guidelines on industry interactions with healthcare practitioners, and the healthcare environment, for both UK & Ireland Therapeutic area knowledge in Reproductive Medicine (Fertility), Gastroenterology and/or Urology / Uro-Oncology is an asset Skills and Capabilities Apply strong analytical, quantitative, and problem solving skills Collaborate effectively with cross-functional team, and enabling functions, to achieve medical / scientific and business outcomes Influence Regional and Global stakeholders, including presenting with impact to senior leadership Demonstrate strong leadership skills and the ability to encourage employee ownership and accountability Accomplish goals and meets deadlines, both in a self-directed manner, and by motivating others to contribute to team objectives Communicate effectively through both excellent written and verbal communication skills, as well as demonstrating effective presentation skills – must be fluent in English Manage ambiguity and change with agility, and using creative alternatives to resolve challenges Organise and manages multiple priorities and projects, including concurrent demands and resource limitations Establish action plans founded on effective strategic thinking, rigorous planning, and excellence in execution and implementation Possess effective computer skills (MS Office and Teams, Compliance systems, and adept to learn other business software applications) People come first at Ferring Get inspired from our commitment to advocate for everyone’s right to build a family, no matter who you are, where you live or who you love.
