Children and Young Peoples Skills Mentor (PRU)
Salary: 30,559 - 32,654 *
About the role
We are looking to recruit a Children and Young People's Skills Mentor to join the Pupil Referral Unit in Ceredigion on a full-time basis. This is an exciting role within the service providing the opportunity to work with young people from the community and improve their educational outcomes within a bespoke and person-centred educational setting.
On a day to day basis you will:
* create and coordinate educational and wellbeing support that meet the Additional Learning Needs of our pupils;
* ensure the health, safety and wellbeing of all pupils who attend the unit;
* provide high quality pastoral care by coordinating programs and interventions;
* create an inclusive, comfortable and happy school environment to ensure improvements in learner engagement and wellbeing;
* work as part of a team to ensure effective daily provision within the unit.
We are looking to recruit an individual that has:
* strong communication and interpersonal skills;
* excellent negotiation skills;
* excellent behaviour management skills;
* positive, inclusive attitude towards diversity;
* ability to relate well to vulnerable/challenging pupils and young people;
* ability to work independently or as part of a team;
* to be innovative and creative in your approach to supporting vulnerable and challenging young people;
* ability to be trustworthy and reliable, and to respect confidentiality;
* ability to maintain a professional relationship whilst working with young people and external delivery partners.
