We are looking to recruit a Strategic Land Buyer / Manager to join the Land Teams in our Suffolk and Anglia Regions covering the East Anglia patch. This role reports to the Land Department. The purpose of the role is to identify and assess strategic unconsented land opportunities against company criteria and assist in the planning, technical and financial appraisal of sites. Develop a knowledge of local housing markets, competitor activities and the regional planning context to support the land team in delivering a sustained land supply for the regional business. The role will include: Identify strategic land opportunities for future residential development sites for the company to promote under option agreements. Co-ordination of information for offers to be made on sites and collating information from external consultants and internal departments in order that offers are made on time and the region retains a strong land bank Co-ordinate external consultants to promote and manage the strategic land bank. Build and maintain excellent relationships with landowners keeping them informed of the site’s promotion and planning application under the terms of the option agreement. Develop a knowledge of land agents and local planning environment and build relationships, to seek out new land opportunities in the region and give the company a competitive edge Work with in-house and external Architects, Engineers and Surveyors to optimise profit for the regional business and keep costs to a minimum Provide excellent negotiation skills, project management, financial reporting and detailed land exercise appraisals to help achieve team deadlines and targets, whilst working towards the companies high standards at all times On occasion to deputise for the Land Manager to provide support and assistance to the team What experience, qualifications and skills are we looking for? Knowledge of the planning system, planning policy and spatial strategy Familiar with the Local Planning Authorities, the geographic location and local housing market. Experience in a similar role at a housebuilder, promoter, consultancy or local authority would be advantageous Ability to communicate effectively whilst represent the company well with landowners and stakeholders Computer literacy with Microsoft Office programmes is essential Valid UK driving licence What’s in it for you?
