The role
As a Senior Project Engineer, you'll have a role that's out of the ordinary. The Major Infrastructure Projects directorate provides major new or upgraded dock, berth and building infrastructure projects to provide facilities for the ship and submarine sustainment programmes. As a Senior Project Engineer, you will be working to help manage the lead design consultant for a critical civil design package.
Day-to-day, using your experience in facility upgrade or infrastructure projects, you will manage the delivery of heavy civils infrastructure designs and work with users and other stakeholders to ensure that the integrated facility is delivered to time, cost, and quality for the sustainment capability. You will use your project management expertise to ensure that the design meets the technical and operational requirements of the facility
* Supporting the Package Manager who is responsible for the delivery of multiple sub-packages.
* Working closely with the multi-disciplinary technical team to ensure deliverables meet stringent quality criterium by leading sub-packages through governance processes.
* Responsible for working with schedule, commercial, cost and risk management functions to ensure that design packages are delivered to time, cost, and quality parameters.
* Assisting the technical and project team in the development of requirements, project scope and solutions for specific work packages.
* Translate supply chain reporting into useable data to inform planning, monitoring and control of work packages.
This role is full time, 35 hours per week and provides hybrid working arrangements.
Essential experience of the Senior Project Engineer
* The candidate must have experience of project or design management, ideally within an infrastructure delivery.
* It is preferable that the candidate will have experience managing and administering an NEC4 contract.
* The project is located on a Nuclear Licensed site, as such, experience in delivery of nuclear safety implicated structures, equipment or services would be desirable.
Qualifications for the Senior Project Engineer
* The candidate must hold a degree, ideally in a STEM subject area.
* APM project management qualification (or equivalent) - Desirable
* NEC4 Project Manager Accreditation - Desirable
Security Clearance
The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
