Job summary
Wehave an exciting opportunity for a registered nurse to join our current nursingteam. We are looking to recruit anenthusiastic part time Practice Nurse to work across both our main site onDorchester Road and our branch site based within Ashby Clinic to complement ourexisting clinical team. Experience is preferred but not essential.
Youwill be expected to carry out a full range of practice nursing duties and beprepared to undertake further training to enable you to work in generalpractice. As well as having the skillsneeded by all nurses you will need to be flexible and adaptable, able to workwell with other healthcare professionals and patients from a wide variety ofbackgrounds. You must have good organisationalskills, be confident to work on your own initiative, have excellent peopleskills, good communication and observation.Be happy to work as part of a team and able to cope under pressure.
Main duties of the job
1. An interest or experienced in Chronic Disease Management - Asthma, COPD and Diabetes
2. Cytology
3. Wound care / ulcer care
4. New Patient Medicals/Urinalysis
5. Asthma/Peak Flow Readings/Spirometry
6. Hypertension Management
7. Routine immunisations/Childhood immunisations/Travel Imms
8. Requesting pathology tests, for example urine culture, swabs
9. Family Planning Clinics including pill checks etc
10. QOF
11. Undertaking audits as and when required including Infection Control
12. Following agreed clinical protocols with referral to senior nurses or GPs as appropriate
13. Working alongside the Nurse Associate & Health Care Assistant to develop their skills
14. Other tasks will include;
15. Basic nursing duties such as; venepuncture, ECGs
16. Maintaining GP and Nurses rooms, stocking and rotating items as required
17. Chaperoning and assisting patients who are being examined by another clinician.
18. Ordering of vaccinations to maintain stock levels in the absence of a HCA
19. At all times there will be a need to maintain accurate records
20. Attend and participate in any practice meetings when required.
21. On occasion there may be a requirement to undertake home visits
22. Any other delegated duties appropriate to the post

We are a busy teaching practice with 3 Partners and a list size of approximately 8000 patients. Our nursing team comprises of 3 Nurse Practitioners, 1 Practice Nurse and a vacancy, a Nurse Associate, 3 Health Care Assistants. We also have trainee GPs, Medical Students, trainee Nurses. Job responsibilities
The post holder is responsible for the delivery of practice nursing services care to the practice population. Supported by the Nursing Team and Partners within the practice, they will deliver care within the boundaries of their scope of practice, focusing upon supporting patients to be healthy, monitoring and management of long-term conditions, health prevention, wound care and screening activities that may include cervical screening, baby immunisations and travel health. They will work collaboratively with the general practice team to meet the needs of patients, supporting the delivery of policy and procedures.
