Role:
Aurora New Dawn is a registered charity providing support to victims and survivors of domestic abuse, stalking and sexual violence. In 2017 we launched our Armed Forces Service and we have been working with the Armed Forces Community ever since.
We are looking for an enthusiastic individual with an understanding of the specific needs of armed forces personnel and/or their families, to join our Armed Forces Advocacy Service (AFAS). This post involves working with victims who have links to the Royal Navy.
As an Armed Forces Advocate you will:
* Provide direct support to victims (16+) of domestic abuse, sexual violence and/or stalking who have links to the armed forces.
* Work alongside other professionals to identify and address the safety and support needs of your clients.
* Provide emotional and practical support and information, including in relation to legal options, housing, health and finance.
* Advocate for your clients with relevant agencies, ensuring that they receive the right support at the right time.
* Assist the wider team in the delivery of training and awareness-raising across the armed forces community.
Requirements:
Some experience of working with victims and survivors of domestic abuse or sexual violence is a benefit for this role, however it is not essential. It is more important to us that we find the right people to support and guide our clients. Full training is provided, and we welcome any applicants with a forces background and a passion for this area of work.
We are looking for someone who:
* Is passionate about supporting victims and survivors of domestic abuse, sexual violence and stalking.
* Understands the unique nature of forces life and some of the challenges this can bring with it.
* Shares our values in delivering high-quality services; working together; treating others with dignity and respect; and to their own learning and reflection.
* Can manage their time well and work independently.
* Feels comfortable advocating on behalf of others and isn’t afraid to speak up when it comes to the needs of their clients.
* Is happy to travel locally, and sometimes nationally, to meet the needs of their clients.
* Is confident using IT systems such as word and excel and writing case notes, reports, and emails.
What we offer:
* Flexible working.
* Birthday day off.
* Trivial benefits system.
* Competitive annual leave plus all bank holidays.
* Ad Hoc bonus opportunities.
* Enhanced maternity pay.
* Team days/lunches.
* Opportunities for additional paid work.
* Ongoing Training and Development.
* External clinical supervision.
