We are looking for a temporary Cook who thrives on making a real and positive difference to the lives of older people. We want someone who will help our residents enjoy every day by making sure they receive the quality nutritional experiences they deserve.
Set in the landscaped grounds of the beautiful Greatham estate, Stichell House is a modern purpose built 35 bed residential home in an enviable location.
Key responsibilities
• To lead and support the Catering Team in providing nutritious, wholesome meals for residents in our care.
• To implement and supervise all aspects of kitchen control e.g. menus, hygiene, health and safety, staff, cleaning and waste control.
• To supervise and develop staff using the available company resources, to maximise their potential.
• To order catering consumables from current nominated suppliers in line with charity purchasing policies and procedures.
• To have full understanding of Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP), to ensure all staff adhere to HACCP and all documentation are completed and signed are by the appropriate members of staff.
• To ensure the standards of hygiene meet the Local Authority current 5-star award scheme (SFBB Food Hygiene Regulations).
• To complete monthly audits for kitchen reporting any finding to home manager.
• To prepare menus for the home taking into account the content, balance, colour and nutritional values, in line with agreed budget.
• To consult with residents on a regular basis to ensure that their needs and choices are being met.
• To ensure residents always receive a positive dining experience.
• The preparation, cooking and serving of meals and refreshments, including special dietary requirements for all residents, and for any special occasions and authorised functions at Stichell House Care Home.
• To maintain the agreed stock levels of food.
• To implement and maintain an agreed deep cleaning schedule for the kitchen.
• To carry out stock takes at the end of each month.
