Telecoms Design Engineer The Role We are looking for a Design Engineer to join a team based in Swindon, to provide expertise and design support to rail projects in the South and South-West of England. The Design Engineer will be responsible for engineering tasks including design production of SLD’s on allocated projects. Reporting to the Telecoms Engineering Manager and supported by a Senior Design Engineer / CRE, you’ll provide technical guidance as required and be the main point of contact for CAD support and production of designs. With a detailed knowledge of industry Network Rail standards and specifications, you’ll be able to produce drawings and documentation to ensure safety, suitability and sustainability of designs. You’ll be competent in reading and translating client specifications and have at least 2 years technical design experience within the Rail industry. You’ll have detailed design and configuration knowledge of rail Operations Telecoms (Ops Comms) as well as Networking and Fibre optics (FTN / FTNx). Proven training certification in relevant systems and a degree or HND in a relevant discipline is required, as well as a valid PTS for site surveys (training can be provided). About You Knowledge of rail telecoms & networks (Ops Comms & FTN/FTNx) Bentley MicroStation / CAD Design experience – be able to produce SLD’s at speed Previous rail experience on Network Rail projects Excellent written and verbal communication skills, to be confident in dealing with stakeholders at all levels. Able to multi-task, hardworking and enjoy being in a fast-paced environment. Great organisational skills, be someone who pays great attention to detail and understands the importance of confidentiality.
