Job Description:
My client specialises in the defence industry, producing and maintaining various types of weapons, materials, and aircraft emergency evacuation systems. They are also involved in creating composite materials such as carbon fibre tubes and aero-structures.
The manufacturing engineer will be the technical owner of the process, including work instructions, equipment, tooling, and other facility requirements.
Primary Responsibilities:
* Design and document tooling, with experience in 3D CAD and 2D drafting.
* Provide hands-on support for manufacturing assembly of products.
* Technical writing.
* Apply knowledge of Design for Manufacturing (DFM), Design of Experiments (DOE), Failure Mode Effects Analysis (FMEA), and process hazard analysis (PHA).
* Maintain equipment and tooling in coordination with maintenance team.
* Coordinate and perform validation and process engineering evaluations for manufacturing equipment.
Preferred Qualifications:
* BSc or MSc in Engineering or Physics.
* 8+ years of industry-relevant experience preferred; others considered.
* Experience with Lean Manufacturing.
* Minimum 5 years of 3D solid modelling experience.
* Experience designing, installing, and qualifying production equipment, including hand tools, fixtures, and semi-automated equipment.
* Knowledge of metalworking tolerances from milling, grinding, turning, laser, or water jet cutting.
* Candidates will be considered for Security Clearance (SC) after job acceptance.
