THE JOB
We are looking for a reliable LGV Driver to be responsible for the safe and timely delivery of goods between retail branches, collection of products from suppliers and mills if required, and making deliveries to customers' premises.
The ideal candidate will be a key member of the Hexham Country Store team, always providing exceptional service and support to our customers.
Duties include: -
* Daily loading of the vehicle at the Country Store or other such premises.
* Transporting goods between Company locations
* Ensuring timely and accurate deliveries, while maintaining high standards of customer service.
* Assisting customers with their deliveries, providing support and handling inquiries professionally.
* Collaborating effectively with the branch team to ensure smooth operations.
* Proactively adhering to all legal requirements of an LGV driver, including, but not limited to driving standards, tachographs, drivers' hours, and other relevant regulations.
* Performance of mandatory daily vehicle checks and reporting any issues or defects to the Transport Manager.
* Maintaining accurate records of deliveries and collections.
* Multi drop work delivering to both domestic and commercial customers.
* Following all Health and Safety procedures, including basic vehicle maintenance, daily vehicle checks, driver risk assessment reporting, HGV compliance and tachograph regulation.
* Continuous promotion of our Health and Safety culture, challenging others to do the same
* Actively supporting teamwork to ensure targets and tasks are completed.
* Assisting with other work around the Division when required, including holiday cover and support cover across other Stores.
* Providing friendly and professional engagement with customers, looking for customer service opportunities to go the extra mile.
* Attending training and development meetings, including monthly H&S and toolbox talk meetings.
* Promoting the business brand whilst always working towards required standards.
* Constant adherance to Company and Group policies and procedures, including but not limited to those relating to Safety, Health and Environmental.

SKILLS, EXPERIENCE AND QUALITIES REQUIRED
* HGV Category C licence.
* Proven experience as an LGV driver or in a similar role.
* Comprehensive knowledge of LGV driving regulations, including tachographs and driver hours.
* Excellent driving skills and a clean driving record.
* Strong customer service skills and the ability to interact professionally with customers.
* Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently.
* Strong communication and teamwork skills.
* I.T Literate, with previous I.T system knowledge.
* Willingness for continuous improvement.
* Ability to work well within a team and as an individual.
* The ability to handle unexpected situations and changes in delivery schedules with ease. A flexible attitude ensures smooth operations even when faced with challenges.
* The capacity to quickly and effectively resolve issues that may arise during deliveries, such as navigating traffic or dealing with customer concerns, demonstrates resourcefulness and initiative.
* A strong commitment to safety beyond legal requirements. An ideal candidate proactively ensures the safety of themselves, their vehicle, and others on the road, demonstrating a high level of responsibility.
