RM Recruit are pleased to be partnering with a reputable not-for-profit organisation based in Birmingham, who are seeking a confident and articulate Assistant Accountant to join their team on a part-time, temporary basis for approximately 4-5 months. The role requires 18.75 hours per week, spread across Monday to Friday. Our client offers the flexibility of remote working, with a requirement for office attendance once per month. In this role, you will support the Finance Business Partner and budget holders in providing an effective, value for money service. Responsibilities include: Assist in the month-end close process, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting. Prepare and process prepayments, journals, and accruals. Assist in the preparation of monthly and quarterly financial reports. Complete balance sheet reconciliations Support the budget planning and forecasting process. Participate in budget meetings, providing relevant financial data and insights. Maintain accurate financial records and assist with audit preparation as required. Provide general accounting support as needed by the finance team. Liaise with internal and external auditors on relevant audit work. Assist in preparation of reports to the Executive Team and the Group Board. To represent the Finance team and Group at external meetings as required. Person Specification: Previous experience in an accounting role, ideally with knowledge of month-end procedures. Strong understanding of prepayments, journals, accruals, and budget management. Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Xero, Dynamics, or similar) and MS Excel & Power BI. Attention to detail and strong organisational skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Strong communication skills, with the ability to participate in budget meetings and communicate financial information effectively.
