Main duties of the job As a Locum Consultant in Sexual Health, you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality clinical care, ensuring service continuity, and supporting the wider sexual health team. This role requires expertise in genitourinary medicine (GUM), contraception, and HIV care, as well as the ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary setting. Provide specialist care in the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of sexually transmitted infections (STIs). Manage complex and high-risk cases, including recurrent infections, antibiotic-resistant STIs, and sexual health concerns in vulnerable populations. Offer expert advice on HIV prevention, testing, and treatment, including PrEP (Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis) and PEP (Post-Exposure Prophylaxis). Conduct contraceptive consultations and procedures, including the fitting/removal of intrauterine devices (IUDs) and subdermal implants. Support the integration of psychosexual health services for patients with sexual dysfunction or trauma-related concerns. Work closely with nurses, health advisors, and other specialists to ensure a holistic approach to patient care. Contribute to the continuity of care by managing patient caseloads and ensuring timely follow-ups. Maintain high clinical governance standards, adhering to national guidelines (BASHH, BHIVA, FSRH).
