We are a 4th generation family business with over 100 years’ experience in household removals, office removals, haulage and data destruction. Archers Removals has built up extensive knowledge of these services, maintaining relationships through excellent service delivery based on traditional family values, proven standards, and a blend of price and quality. We work hard to maintain our accreditations, including ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 22301, BS 8522, and BS EN 15713. Our services cover North Yorkshire, Teesside, Durham, and the UK.
This exciting opportunity involves becoming a team member integrating into our existing teams, completing removals for both domestic and business customers, while undergoing your 13-month Level 2 Porter training and working towards your HGV CAT C (Class 2) entitlement. The program is with a leading training provider and the British Association of Removers.
Your day-to-day role will involve visiting homes and businesses, helping our customers move across North Yorkshire and the UK.
This career opportunity is suitable for both experienced removal porters looking to advance their careers and those looking to start their career journey with Archers Removals.
Here’s how our porter to HGV driver career pathway works:
1. You start as a removals operative Trainee, learning how the removals industry operates, developing practical skills and specialist knowledge, and accompanying our trained drivers out on the road.
2. At the end of your first year, you will have successfully completed your porter training.
3. We then enroll you in an LGV Training program, where you’ll learn to drive a Cat C (Class 2) removal truck.
You will be expected to complete monthly online training to develop skills and knowledge around your role. Additionally, you will be required to achieve your functional skills in Maths and English at Level 1, only if you do not hold GCSEs Level 4 or equivalent (evidence is required).
Your role will be based at P.W Archer & Son Ltd, Springwell Lane, Northallerton, DL7 8QP.
Working hours are Monday to Friday, 8 am to 5 pm, with overtime when required and nights out when necessary for work schedules (hotel room supplied and meal allowance).
