The role
As the Lead Architect, your function will be to govern and maintain the overall technical architecture solution for the force; ensuring that all work undertaken adheres to agreed standards, design principles and architecture methodology.
Reporting into the Head of Strategy and Transformation, you and the Strategy team will be responsible for ensuring the Digital, Data and Technology Department understands current and future requirements for The Force, the technology marketplace, and as a result identifies opportunities for leveraging information and digital technology to benefit The Force.
Managing the technical architecture team, you will have a strong focus on the creation of high/low level design solutions for new innovative IT solutions across the force, the post holder will also hold responsibility for driving forward Innovation, technology roadmaps - ensuring security by design in all undertakings
Key responsibilities include:
* Effective leadership and management of the Architecture team
* Act as the technical design authority (Chair of TDA) for new technology solutions presented by the development or architecture sub-teams
* Ensure a consistent approach to adopting new technologies, in regard to infrastructure, Application and Service selection approach
* Have an excellent awareness and appreciation of emerging new technologies and best practices across IT infrastructure
* Drive innovative ideas across the team, encouraging an atmosphere of creative thinking and data-driven solutions
* Act as an escalation route for architectural design issues or innovative solutions
* Drive new ideas forward as part of an emergent technology roadmap
* Monitor and manage service levels and performance standards for the team
About you:
Leadership and management experience is a key part of this role. You will have experience in strategising projects alongside possessing strong management capabilities. You will have experience of steering teams of skilled architects and formalise the Architecture Process.
What marks you out however is your ability to think strategically whilst having a strong focus on ICT technologies, GAP Analysis, understanding of Cyber Security protocols and operational service delivery.
You ideally will also be able to commute to Staffordshire Police HQ in Stafford within 90 minutes due to the importance of the operational availability.
