Business Development
Our business development, marketing and communication teams contribute to the setting and achievement of the firm's business objectives, which includes supporting our partners and associates in their pursuit of becoming our clients' trusted advisers, building and maintaining long-lasting, deep institutional client relationships, winning new clients, increasing the visibility of the firm globally, and positioning the firm as the thought leader among the global elite law firms. The function works as one team across the globe with very close collaboration between the central teams and professionals supporting offices, practice groups, sectors and clients.
What you will do
This role is responsible for supporting the business development activities of the London Financial Services Regulatory (FSR) team and the wider FSR global network. This also includes supporting the Business Development Manager in driving the Global FSR strategy globally and complementary initiatives with the Fintech and Financial Institutions sectors. This role will also include providing guidance and development to the Senior BD Assistant supporting the FSR team, providing oversight, and driving best practices.
This will include
* Working with BD colleagues, knowledge lawyers, and fee earners to create and deliver tailored marketing campaigns for market profiling and client communication activities in pursuit of the global FSR strategy.
* Leading on the delivery of first drafts of business proposals, credentials statements (baseline documents for matter pitches, panel pitches), brochures, inserts, and contact cards.
* Leading on submissions for legal directories and awards for the FSR team.
* Overseeing the delivery of successful client events such as roundtables and client seminars to raise awareness of our expertise in key product areas.
* Campaign management and thought leadership – working closely with knowledge lawyers and internal teams to bring campaigns to market across multiple channels, e.g., blogs, podcasts, bulletins.
* Creation of campaign content, including writing/editing copy for web, social media, and email marketing elements.
* Developing and implementing market plans for fee earners, and/or subgroups within the department, by undertaking research and seeking feedback.
* Creating and delivering Associate BD training.
* Managing and continuously developing the BD infrastructure for Financial Services Regulatory.
* Overseeing Senior Assistant work and more junior members of the team, advocating for best practices, delegating, and guiding as needed.
* Supporting trade organization and industry body relationships key to the FSR practice, engaging with key stakeholders.
* Working to internally profile the FSR practice within the firm and across interactions with other BD teams.
What you will have
* Minimum of two years' experience in a Marketing or Business Development role, preferably within professional services.
* Degree-level qualification in Marketing or a related field, or substantial equivalent experience.
* A general understanding of the financial services industry (including banks, fintechs, payment services providers, and financial market infrastructure) would be an advantage.
* Ability to delegate to others, project manage workflow, and prioritize deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
* Very high attention to detail.
* Good interpersonal skills, able to confidently interact with all levels and across cultures.
* Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
