In-House Legal Counsel
We are looking for an in-house solicitor to join the legal department to support the business on a range of legal matters including drafting and negotiating general customer and supplier contracts, terms and conditions of supply and IT contracts; provide legal, regulatory and governance support and advice; and assist in maintaining and updating existing templates and contracting processes. The successful candidate will report to the General Counsel and work closely with senior individuals within the business. This role is ideally suited to an individual who thrives in a team-focused, fast-paced environment and who is eager to learn. The ideal candidate will be an experienced commercial solicitor (upwards of 2 years’ PQE).
The Details:
* Salary: £45k-£50k (Dependent on experience)
* Hybrid Role (Potentially 3 days in the office & 2 days at home with travel as required)
* Would need to be within travelling distance of Wakefield.
* Shift Pattern: Monday to Friday
* Hours: 40 Per Week / Flexible start & finish times.

Key Accountabilities:
* Providing accurate, relevant, and timely advice on a variety of legal topics to staff and management.
* Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating various commercial contracts and agreements.
* Ensuring compliance with all laws and regulations that apply to the business.
* Managing and mitigating legal risks by drafting, reviewing and implementing company policies and procedures and promoting legal, compliance and risk management best practice throughout the business.
* Dispute resolution.
* Providing legal training to the business.
* Document and workflow management.
* Supporting internal projects, training, and processes.
* Communicating with and managing external counsel.
* Staying up to date with changes to legislation, particularly in relation to laws, rules and regulations that directly affect the business.
Key Experience and Qualifications:
* Qualified solicitor with 2+ years’ PQE.
* Commercial contracts background gained either in mid to top tier practice or in an in-house environment.
* Should have experience of IT contract negotiation.
* Experience of Property Law and/or Employment Law would be preferred but is not essential.

* Be able to work on a stand-alone basis.
* Commercial awareness / acumen.
* The ability to prioritise and multi-task, particularly when working under pressure and to tight deadlines.
* A methodical approach to work with a strong focus on accuracy.

* A willingness to travel to depots and other sites.
