To support our ambitious growth plans, we have a great opportunity to join our Central Services teams here at SOCOTEC. With over 2200 UK employees, our Central Services functions are key to ensuring smooth and efficient operations. Based in Bretby, working across the specialisms in HR, Marketing, Finance, and IT, we pride ourselves on partnering and supporting our operational divisions to deliver a world-class service to our customers.
We’re looking for you to train as an apprentice, aiming to achieve a Level 4 Professional Accounting Apprenticeship and working within our Central Finance Team based in our Head Office in Burton Upon Trent.
The role is very much based around being a team player, who has a flexible attitude and is willing to get the job done. The key function is to assist the General Ledger Accounting Team in a range of accounting activities, with a focus on creating, validating, and reporting on financial information.
Specific duties will include (but aren’t limited to):
* Completing monthly journals
* Data Maintenance – ensuring integrity of Sage accounts
* Reconciling bank accounts
* Reconciling balance sheet accounts (e.g., VAT, PAYE, etc.)
* Reconciling supplier statements
* Entering accounts data onto Sage Accounts
* Ensuring that deadlines are met for monthly reporting
* Supporting with ongoing financial projects that focus on business improvement and cost benefit
* Ad Hoc support to wider Central Finance Team

You will have:
* At least 4 x GCSEs at grades C/4, including English and Maths
* A keen eye for detail and the ability to produce accurate work
* The ability to work in an organised fashion to achieve deadlines
* Level 3 AAT Qualification is required for entry onto the Level 4 apprenticeship programme.
