The Role: As an Analytical Advisor, you will ensure the Trade Remedies Authority (TRA) is able to monitor its effectiveness through effective data visualisation, improving how we present data and support broader corporate analytical needs. You will undertake discrete pieces of work that draw on your skills as an analyst at the TRA. You will define and implement ways to monitor the effectiveness of our trade remedies measures and our internal performance. You will work with colleagues across the organisation to understand their data and use it to help teams make decisions and influence the direction of the TRA. You will have the opportunity to use your experience, knowledge, and leadership skills to help the TRA draw out key insights from our internal reporting using visualisation and analytical techniques. You will be a leader to your team, unit and the TRA by utilising and sharing your experience as an analyst to improve how the TRA disseminates and turn data into business outcomes and insight. You will also work together with Digital & Technology colleagues to evolve how the TRA works with data, engaging with our Data Work Programme and Digital Vision and future digital projects. You may also undertake a variety of projects run by the analysis team, including broader trade remedies related work. This may include being temporarily embedded in one multi-disciplinary case team to develop insight in how data affects our core organisation function. Case teams deal with specific trade remedies investigation and are composed of staff from investigations, verification, policy, legal and analysis; reporting to a Lead Investigator. You will be based within the Data & Monitoring unit within the broader analyst unit, reporting to the G6 Head of Unit and play a key role in shaping the unit and how it can support the TRA. The analysis function at the TRA consists of three units: one Data & Monitoring unit made up of statisticians and researchers, together with two economics units. These three units report to the Chief Economist who is responsible for the analytical function. Job description Key accountabilities: To succeed in this role, you will: lead and support the TRA in delivering its internal analysis, such as surveys, management information, and operational modelling; present and visualise organisational data and international trade data to monitor and evaluate organisational performance; lead and support the team in developing ways to automate data and statistical visualisation and reporting; ensure analysis is appropriate, clearly communicated, in both writing and verbally, to stakeholders of different backgrounds and follows best practice in quality assurance; build trusted relationships with colleagues within case teams and external stakeholders and work collaboratively with them to develop TRA standards, capability and evidence base; provide TRA teams with professional support through upskilling teams in best practice in analysis and visualisation; manage and lead your team in delivering your teams and broader organisations objectives. Essential Criteria Technical Qualification: One of the following qualifications: A first- or second-class honours degree (2:2 minimum) or equivalent in any analytical field (e.g. Economics, Statistics, Econometrics, Mathematics, Data Science, Sciences) OR A higher degree (e.g. MSc or PhD) in any analytical field (e.g. Economics, Statistics, Econometrics, Mathematics, Data Science, Sciences). Experience in leading, conducting, and delivering analysis supporting corporate services. These services can include teams from HR/People, Digital, Data and Technology, Governance, Business Support, Strategic Communications etc. Experience in managing and enabling PowerBI projects to allow organisations to report on its effectiveness and meeting complex user needs. Experience in leading, managing and delivering projects in a multi-disciplinary team environment. Experience in working with both senior and junior colleagues across teams and organisations, effectively delivering collaborative outcomes. A track record in effectively planning and managing multiple work programmes, utilising your team to deliver effectively, and seeking resources to ensure delivery. Desirable Criteria Experience in using other Microsoft Power Platform tools, such as Power Automate or Power Apps, to deliver end-to-end projects. Experience using R and/or Python in the context of visualisation or automation.
