We are looking for a dynamic, energetic and really good teacher to join our Key Stage 2 team in September 2025 in a full-time permanent role. We don’t have any fixed ideas for the year group, so if you have particular interest or expertise in one please do let us know. Similarly, please let us know of subjects you have expertise in leading and/or harbour a real passion for.
Appledore School is a one form entry school, which means big to have enough people to wear all the ‘hats’ required yet small enough for all of us to know each other and the children really well. As a result, Appledore is a warm and friendly school where staff prioritise supporting and looking after both children and one another alike.
In addition to a class teacher, all classes are supported by a full-time teaching assistant, specialist art teacher, reading champion (who supports all children in Key Stage 2 to develop a passion for reading) and a specialist music and drama, French and RE teacher who takes PPA. Due to our very low turnover of staff, our staff are very experienced and highly skilled.
Our site is a lovely place to work and includes: a woodland, complete with outdoor classroom; an art studio, complete with dedicated art teacher; a huge polytunnel, complete with edible produce; a WWII garden, complete with an Anderson shelter and numerous outdoor play equipment, complete with ‘HMS Appledore’.
You need to:
1. have experience of teaching in Key Stage 2;
2. work well as part of a team;
3. be dedicated to ensuring all the children make at least good progress within a broad and balanced curriculum;
4. be an inspirational, creative and highly effective classroom practitioner;
5. possess an ability to build a strong rapport with children and parents;
6. have good ICT technical skills (ideally Google suite);
7. have a sense of humour!
Before applying, please do try to call us to find out more about the post and to arrange a visit by calling 01237 474365 and asking for the head teacher or email. We very much look forward to hearing from you.
We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and vulnerable adults, and expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.
