Role/ Department
This role provides expert, reward-related support to various HR teams, including country Heads of HR across EMEA locations. In coordination with other members of the EMEA Total Rewards and Regulatory Remuneration team, the individual will be responsible for the review and update of policies related to compensation, the review and preparation of regulatory reports as well as various ad-hoc compensation modelling and analyses. While working autonomously within established procedures and practices, the individual will be encouraged to generate new and improved solutions to complex problems and to look beyond the immediate problem to identify the wider implications.
This role will also be responsible for the creation of papers aimed at local Remuneration Committees as well as projects related to development and implementation of new regulations impacting Northern Trust compensation programs across various EMEA locations.
The key responsibilities of the role include
1. Act as a Subject Matter Expert for all compensation policies, tools and programs with third parties and other stakeholders (e.g., Country HR teams, HR Business Partners, Talent Acquisition specialists, payroll, benefits teams and vendors).
2. Assist in the analysis, design and administration of compensation programs, including base pay and incentive pay programs.
3. Conduct in-depth compensation analyses during the annual review cycle and work with senior stakeholders and managers to guide and support compensation decisions.
4. Retrieve appropriate compensation data to create regular, ad-hoc and formal reports for the team and internal/external stakeholders. In particular, support the preparation of regulatory disclosures such as gender pay gap and equal pay reporting. Document procedures and changes for audit purposes.
5. Interest in gaining experience in the practical application of remuneration regulations, such as Capital Requirements Directive (CRD), Investment Firms Prudential Regime (IFPR), Undertakings for Collective Investment in Transferable Securities (UCITS) & Alternative Investment Fund Managers Directive, gender pay gap and pay equity.
6. Exchange ideas and information effectively with others within and outside the team and communicate complex content in a clear manner. Support and collaborate with own team and other teams whose work activities are closely related.
7. Participate in User Acceptance testing of new system features as needed.
8. Gather and analyze data to identify and solve complex problems that arise with little or no precedent. Analyze current business processes to reduce inefficiencies and identify areas for potential improvement.
Skills/ Experience
1. Previous professional experience, preferably with exposure to Oracle/WorkDay or comparable HR Information Systems.
2. Prior experience in compensation or regulatory remuneration roles an advantage.
3. Advanced proficiency in Windows-based applications, with particular emphasis on Excel and PowerPoint.
4. Ability to maintain confidentiality of all employee information.
5. Strong analytical, problem-solving and communication skills.
6. Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines with minimal assistance.
