Based in the Energy and Power Division at the University of Manchester, you will join a multi-disciplinary team in the EPSRC programme grant ULTRAlGaN. The project is researching a new generation of high-power, solid-state circuit breakers that use the ultra-wide-bandgap material aluminium gallium nitride (AlGaN).
You will be responsible for devising and demonstrating solid-state circuit breakers that exploit the semiconductor devices developed within the project, and you will also help to steer the device research by feeding back test results and application requirements to the project team. You will have practical research experience of power electronic devices, circuits, systems or motor drives, and ideally a PhD (submitted or obtained). The post is available for two years initially.
